NYC Badge Working Group
I was recently in wintry NYC for a 2 day working group meeting, funded by the MacArthur Foundation, to discuss badges. It was a great group of people that spanned multiple interest groups including: informal youth programs, open education, lifelong learning, higher education, research and web technologies.
All-in-all, I think this meeting was a great leap forward for the badge work. Having such a diverse group of people there with specific use cases in mind helped us dig down into real issues and specifics to work through. We have at least 2 badge prototypes that will be running over the next couple of months, followed by more in the middle to late part of this year. More to come on these prototypes.

I ended up getting stuck in NYC an extra day and a half due to ICE STORM 2011 (which turned out to be very unexciting), but it was worth it to make the meeting…as well as to experience the everything bagels a couple extra times. :)
